5 Simple Ways to Go Green
#1) B.Y.O.B.
Bring Your Own Bags to the grocery store. If every household in the U.S. reused one bag per trip, it would save over 10 billion plastic bags a year.
#2)Save a Tree
Many of the trees planted today are specifically grown to produce paper. By recycling newspapers, magazines, and all other paper products we can keep the trees for oxygen in the environment.
#3)Garden the Green Way!
Look for Earth-Friendly Fertilizer. The label should read: low or no phosphorus; Free of pesticides; and Slow-release nitrogen.
#4)Lighten Up
Try using compact fluorescent light bulbs, which use 75% less energy and last 10 times longer than conventional light bulbs. According to the EPA you can save $30 or more in electricity costs over the lifetime of each bulb.
#5)Eating Green
For a food to be considered “organic” it must be produced without the use of conventional pesticides, fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation. Meat, poultry and eggs must come from animals that are free from growth hormones and antibiotics. A simple tip when shopping is to remember “the fewer the ingredients, the better”.
